Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
Welcome to HandFlow. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the HandFlow platform, whether as a resident looking for help ("Client") or a university student offering your time ("Tasker").
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account or using HandFlow, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, you must not use our platform.
1. About HandFlow
HandFlow operates purely as an intermediary platform. We provide a digital space that connects local residents in Oxford with verified university students for small household tasks.
HandFlow is not a service provider, an employer, an employment agency, or a contracting agent. We do not provide cleaning, gardening, or household services ourselves, nor do we employ the Taskers who do. Any agreement formed for the performance of a task is solely between the Client and the Tasker. HandFlow is not a party to that agreement and accepts no responsibility or liability for the performance, quality, or safety of the tasks carried out.
2. Eligibility
To use HandFlow, you must meet the following criteria:
- Clients: You must be at least 18 years old and reside in or need tasks completed within our active service areas (currently Oxford, UK).
- Taskers: You must be at least 18 years old, be legally permitted to work as an independent contractor in the UK, and be a currently enrolled student at a recognised UK university. You must register using a valid
.ac.ukemail address and pass our manual ID verification process.
By creating an account, you warrant that all information you provide is accurate, current, and complete. You are responsible for keeping your account details confidential.
3. How the Platform Works
Clients submit a free-text description of the help they need. Our AI assistant parses this description to categorise the task and suggest an estimated timeframe and rate.
HandFlow then alerts available Taskers in the area. Taskers have the absolute freedom to review, accept, or ignore any task request based on their own schedule and preferences. There are no penalties for declining work.
To protect user privacy, exact contact details are only exchanged once a Tasker has actively accepted a task. Once the task is completed, both parties are encouraged to leave a review. HandFlow facilitates this connection but does not direct, control, or supervise Taskers in any way.
4. Payments
HandFlow does not process, store, or guarantee any payments. All payments are made directly from the Client to the Tasker via cash or direct bank transfer, as agreed upon between both parties.
While HandFlow may display a recommended rate (typically £12–£20 per hour), this is strictly an orientation guide. Taskers are free to negotiate and set their own final prices with Clients.
Because payments are direct, HandFlow takes no commission on the transaction. HandFlow is not responsible for unpaid invoices, payment disputes, or any tax and National Insurance obligations arising from the work. Taskers are entirely responsible for managing their own tax affairs as independent individuals.
Future versions of the platform may introduce platform-facilitated payments, at which point these Terms will be updated accordingly.
5. Cancellations
Clients may cancel a requested task without any consequences before it has been accepted by a Tasker.
If a task has already been accepted, the cancelling party must notify the other party directly and as soon as possible. There are no platform-enforced financial penalties for cancellations. However, repeated last-minute cancellations or no-shows by either a Client or a Tasker may result in the temporary suspension or permanent deletion of their HandFlow account.
6. User Conduct
We expect all users to treat each other with respect. When using HandFlow, you agree that you will not:
- Engage in any harassment, discrimination, abusive behaviour, or threatening conduct.
- Use the platform for any illegal activities or to request illegal services.
- Submit false, malicious, or artificially inflated reviews.
- Exchange contact information purely to bypass the platform for initial task discovery (anti-circumvention).
If we determine, at our sole discretion, that you have violated these conduct rules, we reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate your account.
7. Limitation of Liability and Warranties
Disclaimer of Warranties: The HandFlow platform is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While we strive to ensure the platform operates smoothly, we make no guarantees that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly secure.
Limitation of Liability: HandFlow's role is limited strictly to facilitating introductions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HandFlow shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the platform or the performance of any task. This includes, but is not limited to:
- The quality, safety, or legality of the work performed by a Tasker.
- Any property damage, theft, or loss occurring during a task.
- Any personal injury sustained by a Tasker or a Client.
- Disputes between Clients and Taskers, including missed appointments or payment failures.
Please note that Taskers are independent individuals and are not insured by HandFlow. Clients engage Taskers at their own risk regarding property damage or personal injury during a task.
Statutory Rights: Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be legally excluded under the laws of England and Wales.
8. Reviews
Trust is the foundation of HandFlow. After a task is completed, both the Client and the Tasker can leave a public review.
Reviews must be honest, factual, and based on your genuine experience. HandFlow reserves the right to remove any review that violates our User Conduct guidelines, contains personal information, or is deemed defamatory or abusive.
9. Intellectual Property
All content, design, text, graphics, and underlying code on the HandFlow platform are the intellectual property of HandFlow. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our intellectual property without our prior written consent.
Users retain ownership of any content they submit to the platform (such as task descriptions or reviews). However, by submitting content, you grant HandFlow a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, and reproduce that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform.
10. Account Termination
You may request deletion of your HandFlow account at any time by contacting us at handflow.general@gmail.com. We will process your request and remove your personal data within 30 days, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
HandFlow reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, without notice, if you breach these Terms, receive consistent negative reviews, or if we believe your continued use of the platform poses a risk to other users.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business, technology, or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the email address associated with your account. By continuing to use HandFlow after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
12. General Provisions
Data Protection: We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold HandFlow harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your use of the platform, your interaction with any other user, or your breach of these Terms.
Force Majeure: HandFlow will not be liable for any failure or delay in providing the platform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to internet outages, server failures, or natural disasters.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable by a court, that specific provision will be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
Entire Agreement: These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and HandFlow regarding your use of the platform, superseding any prior agreements or understandings.
Dispute Resolution: If you have a dispute with HandFlow regarding the platform itself, please contact us first to resolve it informally. If we cannot resolve it, either party may seek mediation and subsequently pursue the matter in court. HandFlow will not mediate disputes between a Client and a Tasker regarding the physical task performed.
Governing Law & Jurisdiction: These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to these Terms or the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
